The letter, written «motu proprio» (on his own initiative) and entitled «Misericordia Dei» («God´s Mercy»), will give precise indications on how the sacrament must be administered.
The document will be presented to the press by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Cardinal Jorge Arturo Medina Estévez, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments; and Archbishop Julian Herranz, president of the Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts.
