The leader of the Catholic Church in Algeria made this proposal Tuesday when he met with diocesan directors of the Migrants Foundation, from Italy.
Representing a minority Church in a Muslim land, the archbishop said that in Algeria «the proclamation is possible, although it is not a catechumenal proclamation but one of the God of love, of gratuity, of freedom of conscience.»
In a largely Muslim nation, «the proclamation might resonate if it is based on common commitments in favor of human dignity,» he said.
