The 1981 stamp will reflect the attack on the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square on May 13.

The 1986 stamp recalls the Pope’s visit to a synagogue. The one for 1984 shows John Paul II next to Sandro Pertini, then president of Italy.

The 2002 stamp depicts the Pope’s first visit to the Italian Parliament. A silver stamp with the Pope’s face completes the series.
