It is the digital version of the «Social Agenda: A Collection of Magisterial Texts,» published in April 2000 by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. It was published in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian and Polish.
Shortly before his death, the president of the pontifical council, Cardinal François Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, expressed the wish that this text be made more widely available throughout the world.
The «Social Agenda» is now available and downloadable at www.thesocialagenda.com and www.thesocialagenda.org.
The «Social Agenda» contains 75 documents of the magisterium, beginning with St. Clement and St. Augustine, and including recent popes such as Leo XIII and others from the 20th century. It addresses all dimensions of the Church’s social teaching.
At the 2000 launch of the «Social Agenda,» Cardinal Van Thuân commented: «This volume is an optimal instrument for those who want to have direct contact with the magisterial sources and, at the same time, a systematic presentation of them.»
