ROME, SEPT. 16, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Holy See’s St. Lawrence International Youth Center is planning a series of meetings with some personal friends of Mother of Teresa of Calcutta.
The meetings will begin Friday with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Stanislaw Rylko, secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
Then, on Sept. 24, Bishop Angelo Comastri of Loreto will address the topic «Mother Teresa and the Secret of Joy.»
On Sept. 26, Missionary of Charity Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, postulator of the beatification cause of Mother Teresa, will celebrate Mass.
In subsequent days leading up the Oct. 19 beatification of the Mother Teresa, Masses will be celebrated by Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, archbishop of Vienna.
Thursday, Oct. 16, will be dedicated to eucharistic adoration. The day will end with a Mass presided over by John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square, with which the Diocese of Rome will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his pontificate.
Monsignor Felix Machado of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, another friend of Mother Teresa, will celebrate Mass on Oct. 17. The Mass will be followed by prayers and songs led by American students.
The meetings will end on Friday, Oct. 31, with a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, prefect of the Congregation for Sainthood Causes.
The St. Lawrence Center, located next to St. Peter’s Square, was established by John Paul II in 1983, to welcome young pilgrims to Rome and provide them with spiritual support.
