The 2004 «Bravo!» prizes, among the most prestigious of Spain, were awarded Tuesday by a jury appointed by the bishops’ commission on the media.
The Bravo! prize for new technologies was awarded to ZENIT, «for having taken advantage in an excellent way of the contribution of information technology, especially Internet, placing it at the service of social communication, above all of religious information, thus succeeding in having the life and thought of the Church reach numerous means of communication and hundreds of thousands of persons throughout the world.»
The Bravo! cinema prize was awarded to «The Passion» «for showing today’s world the figure of Christ and his redeeming sacrifice for the salvation of men, through a notable cinematographic endeavor, full of great realism and profound religious meaning.»
The prize for television was awarded to the news service of «Popular TV,» a Catholic channel in its first year.
The first to be awarded the Bravo! prize, in 1969, was Manuel Lozano Garrido, who is in the process of beatification.
