Chief Rabbi of Rome Assures Pope of His Prayers

ROME, FEB. 4, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Riccardo De Segni, the Chief Rabbi of Rome, called John Paul II to assure him that all Jews are praying for his recovery.

The Holy Father has been in the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome where he was taken late Tuesday with respiratory problems linked to the flu.

«I continue to pray for him,» the chief rabbi said on the telephone, reported Vatican spokesman Joaquín Navarro-Valls.

The chief rabbi’s call was «particularly moving,» he added.
