«One pastor even told me that this was the most beautiful event ever performed in his parish,» said Bishop Bernardino Marchió of Caruaru to Aid to the Church in Need.

The prelate explained that during Lent, in each of the diocese’s 27 parishes in the Eastern part of Brazil, 200 to 300 missionaries had been trained to prepare them for this task: «Also, all of my 42 priests, without exception, committed themselves to these home visits. Some 180,000 leaflets about faith issues were distributed.»

«Now, several parishes want to repeat such missionary home visits on their own initiative,» he added.
