Bishop Renato Boccardo, secretary-general of Vatican City State and an organizer of papal trips, explained today that the Pope is scheduled to return to the Vatican on Aug. 21, the day World Youth Day closes with a large outdoor Mass.

The prelate also confirmed that for the time being, no details have been made public about the program of the Holy Father’s visit.

The program has been changed from the one that was prepared for Pope John Paul II, who was looking forward to World Youth Day despite his poor health.
