Policy Committee.

In a letter sent July 19 to U.S. House Representative Jose Serrano of New York, and released today, Bishop John Ricard offered support for a resolution proposed by Serrano that suggested easing restrictions on family travel and financial aid sent to Cuba.

He called the bill «a laudable example of the humanitarian spirit that ought to be a constant element of our Cuba policy.»

Hurricane Dennis, which roared across Cuba on July 8, caused extensive damage and is blamed for at least 10 deaths.
