Monsignor Ratzinger, 81, was admitted Wednesday as a precaution due to irregular heart beats.

He is in good conditions and «can return home without any problem,» his doctors said in a statement. He was discharged today.

Monsignor Ratzinger, a former music director of the Regensburg Cathedral, was also hospitalized Aug. 4 in Rome’s Gemelli Polyclinic during a visit to see his brother at the papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. At the time, he was fitted with a pacemaker.
