Preaching to Be Focus of Videoconference

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 26, 2005 (Zenit.org).- A worldwide videoconference will be held this Thursday on the topic «Preaching in the Life of the Church,» organized by the Congregation for Clergy.

The videoconference, part of a monthly series, brings together theologians from around the world.

The conference can be followed live beginning at noon (Rome time) at www.clerus.org. The original texts of the theologians’ addresses will be posted later at the same Web page.

Among the theologians who will take part in the videoconference is Archbishop Bruno Forte, a member of the International Theological Commission, who will speak from Rome on the «challenges and opportunities of the new Areopagi.»

Father Michael Hull of New York will address «The Ban on Homilies Written by Lay Persons» and «The Meaning of Reserving Homilies to Sacred Ministers.»

The videoconference will also touch on canon law issues.
