New Bishop for Sambir, Ukraine

CURITIBA, Brazil, OCT. 28, 2011 (Zenit.org).- The Vatican announced Thursday that the Eparchy of Sambir-Drohobych, Ukraine, has a new bishop.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, major archbishop of Kyiv-Halyc, Ukraine, with the consent of the permanent synod meeting in Curitiba, Brazil, on Sept. 10, and having informed the Apostolic See, accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the eparchy presented by Bishop Julian Voronovsky, 75.

He is succeeded by Coadjutor Bishop Jaroslav Pryriz, 48.
