Pope Francis expressed his hope to visit Colombia soon in a letter sent to Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga of Tunja, President of the Colombian Bishops Conference.
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin wrote the letter, saying that the Pope «hopes to meet with them soon, during one of his visits to Latin America, to personally bring them the message of the peace of Christ, the Lord.»
The letter, which was released by the Colombian Bishops Conference, the Pope encouraged the people of Colombia to be «collaborators in the work of peace.»
«To build a stable and long-lasting peace means also to work for healthy relations in the families, affected today by worrying situations of violence, so that, transformed by the strength of the Gospel, they may be a seed and a school of a culture of peace and reconciliation.,» he wrote.
Although Cardinal Parolin did not give a specific date, he concluded the letter expressing the Pope’s wish to visit the country soon. He also expressed Pope Francis’ hope that the celebration of Holy Week will bear fruits of reconciliation between the sons and daughters of this country.»
