Pope Francis has named Msgr. Bryan Peter Wells, assessor for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, as apostolic nuncio in South Africa and Botswana, elevating him at the same time to the dignity of archbishop.
Peter Wells, 52, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tulsa in 1991.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1999.
