Pope Francis sent a telegram to Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili, this morning, while flying from Georgia to Azerbaijan, thanking him for the hospitality he received during his two-day pastoral visit to the Caucasus nation.
This Pope’s 16th Apostolic Visit, Sept. 30- Oct. 2, marks the second stage of his extended visit to the Caucasus, whose first phase was marked by the Pope’s visit to Armenia in June.

As I leave Georgia for my pastoral visit to Azerbaijan, I express my heartfelt appreciation to your excellency and the beloved people of the nation for your generous welcome and hospitality.  Upon all of you I willingly invoke God’s abundant blessings of peace and prosperity.
