VATICAN CITY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 (Zenit.org).- In the course of the General Audience of September 20, 2017, Pope Francis invited spouses to abandon the “world’s calculations,” following Saint Matthew’s example.
On the eve of the feast of the Apostle and Evangelist, the Holy Father greeted young people, the sick and newlyweds.
“Dear young people, may his conversion be an example to live your life with the criteria of the faith,” he exhorted.
The Pontiff also encouraged the sick: “May his meekness sustain you, dear sick, when your suffering seems unbearable.”
“And may his abandonment of the world’s calculations remind you, dear newlyweds, of the importance of the logic of love in the marital life you have undertaken,” he concluded.
