Pope Francis met on November 9, 2017, at the Vatican with Horacio Manuel Cartes Jara, President of the Republic of Paraguay, who subsequently met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.
The discussions, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, focused mainly on the themes of education and social promotion, as well as a number of regional issues, according to the Vatican Press Office.
