Pope Francis on December 8, 2017, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, visited the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore to stop in prayer in front of the image of the “Salus Populi Romani”.
Following that visit, he went to Piazza di Spagna for the traditional act of veneration to the Immaculate Conception.
Before returning to the Vatican, the Holy Father visited the Basilica of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte for a tribute to the Madonna of the Miraculous Medal.
During his address before the Angelus on this day, the Pope talked of what it means to say Mary was “full of grace.”
