Pope Francis last night on April 11, 2018, expressed his sorrow at the many deaths from the crash earlier Wednesday. According to Algerian state television, the crash near Algeria’s capital city of Algiers claimed 257 lives.
The Pope’s sentiments came in the telegram to Archbishop Paul Desfarges, SI, of Algiers. The message was signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State.
