“Let us pray to Our Lady for Yemen.”
Those were the words of Pope Francis on June 17, 2018, to the crowd gathered for the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square.  He appealed to the international community to spare no effort to bring the conflicting parties to the negotiating table and thereby avoid worsening the terrible humanitarian situation.
The Holy Father also reminded those listening that Wednesday, June 20, 2018, is World Refugee Day, promoted by the United Nations. He noted that the world’s nations continue to work on a Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
“I hope that the states involved in these processes reach an understanding to assure, with responsibly and humanity, the assistance and protection to those who are forced from their own country,” the Pope said.  And he stressed the importance of recognizing the contributions refugees make to their new homes.
