The Holy Father will go to Naples on June 21, 2019.
This was announced today in a statement by Director ad interim of the Holy See Press Office, Alessandro Gisotti.
The reason for Francis’ visit, the statement noted, is to “take part in the Meeting on the subject “Theology after Veritatis Gaudium in the Context of the Mediterranean,” organized by the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy — Saint Louis Section — of Naples.”
“The program foresees the Pope’s arrival in the capital of Campania around 9:00 am. The Holy Father will be welcomed, among others, by Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Archbishop of Naples and Grand Chancellor of the Faculty; by Monsignor Francesco Marino, Bishop of Nola, and by Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, Superior General of the Society of Jesus.”
The meeting’s public session, he explained, will be held in the Square in front of the faculty. The Pope will give an address focused on the subject of the meeting, and then, after lunch, he will return to Rome in the afternoon.
