The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Holy See, Dr. Amal Moussa Hussein met with Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, in his office in the Ministry building in the Vatican City, reported Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Undersecretary welcomed the Ambassador and thanked her for initiating the visit, wishing her success in her work and representing her country, which the Pope looks forward to visiting next year.
In turn, the Ambassador thanked her host for welcoming her and expressed her happiness and that of the people of Iraq for the declaration of His Holiness Pope Francis on his intention to visit Iraq and the aspiration of all Iraqis for this historic visit which will be the main support for the Christians of Iraq to stay in the country and also encourage the pilgrimage of Christians to the birth city of the prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) to the historic city of Ur.
The two sides discussed the proposed program of the Pope’s visit and the places that His Holiness wishes to visit in order to prepare the necessary preparations by the Iraqi government to achieve the desired objectives.
