Appointment of the Bishop of Osorno (Chile)

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop of Osorno (Chile) HE Msgr. Jorge Enrique Concha Cayuqueo, OFM, so far titular Bishop of Carpi, Auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile and Apostolic Administrator “vacant seat and ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the diocese of Osorno.

HE Msgr. Jorge Enrique Concha Cayuqueo, OFM, was born in Carahue, diocese of Temuco, on June 8, 1958. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He received his Doctorate in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. On December 23, 1983, he made his solemn profession in the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor for the Province of Chile. He received priestly ordination on 20 December 1986.

As a priest, he was Master of the Friars of temporary profession, Provincial Secretary for Formation and Studies, Parochial Vicar in various parishes, Guardian of the San Felipe de Jesús Formation House in Santiago, Commissioner of the Holy Land in Chile, Provincial Minister of the Franciscan Province of the Holy Trinity of Chile and President of the Conference of Provincial Ministers of the Southern Cone (Argentina, Paraguay, and Chile) and First Vice President of the Conference of Religious in Chile.

On July 14, 2015, he was appointed titular Bishop of Carpi and Auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. He received the Episcopal Consecration on August 29, 2015. On 11 June 2018 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator “vacant seat and ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of Osorno.

Appointment of the Bishop of San Bartolomé de Chillán (Chile)

The Holy Father has appointed the Rev. Father Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada, SS.CC., until now Apostolic Administrator “seat vacant et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the same Diocese of San Bartolomé de Chile, Bishop of San Bartolomé de Chillán (Chile) Chillán.

Rev. Father Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada, SS.CC.

The Rev. Father Sergio Hernán Pérez de Arce Arriagada, SS.CC., was born in Coronel, in the Archdiocese of Concepción, on August 26, 1963. He entered the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts (SS.CC.) as postulant in 1982, interrupting the courses of Commercial Engineering, he made his first profession on March 2, 1985.

Having made his perpetual vows on April 29, 1989, he received priestly ordination on December 15, 1990. At first, he held some positions in colleges of the Congregation. Subsequently, from 2005 to 2011, he was Provincial Superior; from 2009 to 2011, Bursar of the Conference of Major Superiors (CONFERRE) and President in the following three years. From 2012 to 2018 he was Rector of the church of the Sacred Hearts in Valparaiso and member of the Directory of the Foundations of the Colleges of the Congregation; in the years 2013-2015 he was a member of the National Council for the prevention of child abuse and accompaniment to victims within the Chilean Episcopal Conference.

On September 21, 2018, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator “vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the Diocese of San Bartolomé de Chillán.
