As customary, Pope Francis received the presidency of the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF) in the Vatican today, December 3, 2020.

In a Twitter post on the account of the French Embassy to the Holy See, the CEF’s President, Monsignor Eric de Moulins-Beaufort explained that during the annual meeting the Bishops meet with the Pope to talk about “the works of the year’s two assemblies,” in spring and in the fall.

Two Vice-Presidents, Monsignor Dominique Blanchet and Monsignor Olivier Leborgne, accompanied the President, as well as the Secretary General, Father Hugues de Woillemont.

“We are very happy to live it this year, in this rather special ambiance of the epidemic,” said Monsignor Moulins-Beaufort, who was invited to the Villa Bonaparte, headquarters of the Embassy.

These last days, he also reported, “we have met hour by hour with all sorts of collaborators, heads of different Dicasteries, to whom we went to present the life of the Church in France, eventually to ask their reactions, their advice, their encouragement on this or that subject.”

Besides Pope Francis, the delegation must also speak with the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
