(ZENIT News / Rome, 16.12.2022).-On Wednesday, December 14, the American digital media “The Pillar” published an article stating that the current President of the Pontifical Academy for Life used charity funds for, among other things, the renovation of his apartment. The alleged events occurred when Paglia (the ecclesiastic’s surname) was President of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
On behalf of Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia — who in recent months has positioned himself as a controversial Bishop for his confusing and contrasting statements on the official doctrine of the Church, regarding subjects such as abortion and the family –, they have communicated with the American media to inform it that Monsignor Paglia “has given instructions to a lawyer in the United States to initiate proceedings against the newspaper for the serious defamation that part of its writing represents. In fact, it is seriously injurious to affirm that the Bishop supposedly used Vatican funds for the expenses of his own private apartment, whose renovation, instead, he paid for personally.”
For its part, “The Pillar” states that Archbishop Paglia has not yet responded to a request for an interview or to questions posed by e-mail.
