(ZENIT News / Haifa, 08.10.2023).- Many members of the Christian community in Haifa took to the streets, to protest the recent intrusions of Christian Holy sites, especially Stella Maria Monastery by Jewish radical groups, which came in line with the measures being taken by the Latin Patriarchate at the Higher levels to ensure the rights of the Christians in the Holy Land and the security of the Christian holy places.

In consequence, Patriarchs and Heads of Churches have been meeting with the Israeli police of Jerusalem to ensure the taking of necessary measures to prevent such further incidents.

Also, on Wednesday August 8th, 2023, a private solidarity visit and meeting was held by Mr. Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, his wife, and his delegation, to the Monastery of Stella Maris, Haifa. His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Carmelites of Haifa, together with Patriarch Theophilos, Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, as well as the Bishops and Heads of the Churches welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed their content regarding this act that supports the call for the establishment of a closer framework of peace, understanding and coexistence.

Joined together with our youth, we will continue to seek the protection of the Holy Sites at all levels. We ask everyone to pray for peace in our country, and to foster a culture of dialogue, and peaceful coexistence with all.

A publication on the Patriarchate’s website states that «together with our young people, we will continue to seek the protection of the Holy Places at all levels. We ask everyone to pray for peace in our country, and to foster a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence with everyone.»
