Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation: Paolo Garonna is appointed the new President

The Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation (FCAPP) is a pontifical institution established in 1993 by Pope John Paul II. Its primary mission is to spread the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church among businesspeople and professionals, promoting its practical application in society.

(ZENIT News / Rome, 09.08.2024).- Prof. Paolo Garonna succeeds as President of Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice  Foundation Prof. Anna Maria Tarantola, former Deputy Director General of the Bank  of Italy and President of RAI (the Italian Public services broadcaster). Prof. Tarantola  has been Member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation since November 2015  and its President since March 2019.

Following Prof. Tarantola’s decision not to seek renewal on expiration of her  mandate for personal reasons, the Vatican authorities have appointed Paolo  Garonna as President, who has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the  Foundation since 2008.

Paolo Garonna is professor of economic policy at the LUISS Guido Carli University,  Rome. Graduated from the Sapienza University in Rome, he then carried out studies  and research in the USA (University of Denver) and in the UK (University of  Cambridge). He has held, among other positions, those of Deputy Executive  Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Director General  of ISTAT (the national Statistical office of Italy), Chief Economist at Confindustria (the  Italian main business association) and Secretary General of the Italian Federation of  Banks, Insurance and Finance. He is the author of studies and publications on the  Catholic Social Teaching, economics and finance.

The Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation (FCAPP) is a pontifical institution established in 1993 by Pope John Paul II. Its primary mission is to spread the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church among businesspeople and professionals, promoting its practical application in society.

The foundation organizes international conferences and events to address topics such as poverty, social inclusion, and sustainable development. It also raises funds for development projects and other Church initiatives.
