(ZENIT News / Lima, 08.28.2026).- The Peruvian Episcopal Conference has warned the faithful and the general public about fraudulent advertisements, which improperly use the name of the Catholic Church in Peru to solicit money.
These fraudulent posts offer supposed slots to receive a blessing from Pope Leo XIV, as well as photographs, personal meetings, or other benefits, in exchange for money. The Peruvian Episcopate categorically states that these posts are false and do not originate from the Peruvian Episcopal Conference.
The Peruvian Episcopal Conference wishes to inform the public that it does not request payment or charge any fee for access to blessings, meetings with the Holy Father, photographs, gatherings, or similar activities. Furthermore, the Peruvian Catholic Church rejects and condemns the use of the faith, the image of the Church, and the figure of the Holy Father for fraudulent purposes.
