(ZENIT News / Rome, 15.11.22023).- The second bilateral meeting between the Holy See and the Italian Government, was held in the Chigi Palace on Wednesday afternoon, November 15, to study the organization of the forthcoming Jubilee. Attending on the Italian side were Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Vice-Prime Minister, the Under-Secretary, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Culture, the Health Minister, the President of the Lazio Region, and the Prefect of Rome.
Attending on the side of the Holy See, together with the Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, were Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, the Adviser for General Affairs, the Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, the Vice-Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State, the Deputy-Director of Infrastructures and Services and the Deputy-Director of Security Services and Civil Protection.
After the welcome address by the Italian Prime Minister, the Cardinal Secretary of State informed those present about the forthcoming publication of the Bull of the Jubilee, planned for May of next year, anticipating the expectation of many pilgrims, for whom active works will make possible a more habitable city.
Among the topics of the order of the day were progress in security plans, healthcare, the contribution and coordination of volunteers, civil protection and transport. Along with these, the summit was the occasion for some updating of very important topics, beginning with the Agreement with the Foreign Affairs Ministry for the issuing of visas to pilgrims coming to Rome on the occasion of the Holy Year.
The Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization thanked the Tourism Ministry for the Memorandum of Agreement, signed last September with the Tourism Ministry and the Italian Extraordinary Commissioner for the reception of tourists visiting Rome for the Jubilee and stressed the importance that the cultural dimension of the Holy See be made known as well in schools. In fact, the meeting also focused on the agreement regarding events of the cultural magazine “The Jubilee Is Culture,” which includes exhibitions, itinerant shows and concerts.
The periodic Working Sessions continue in the Campidoglio, in close collaboration between the Office of Support to the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Jubilee, Roma Capitale and the Holy See. There are also many novelties regarding the Jubilee’s events, which will be made official in the forthcoming days on the Website and the official app Iubilaeum25.
