(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 06.25.2024).- The Pope’s Museums have become the second most visited in the world, only behind the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
This was reported by the specialized statistics website Statista, which ranks the museum of the world’s smallest country in second place with 6.76 million visitors. One spot ahead is the Louvre Museum, with 8.86 million visits, and one spot behind is the British Museum in London with 5.82 million visitors.
The figure from Statista coincides with that of the main publication specialized in this field: The Art Newspaper. The New York newspaper lists the 10 most visited museums in 2023 as follows:
- Louvre Museum – 8,860,000 visitors
- Vatican Museums – 6,764,858 visitors
- British Museum, London – 5,820,860 visitors
- Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York – 5,364,000 visitors
- Tate Modern, London – 4,742,038 visitors
- National Museum of Korea, Seoul – 4,180,285 visitors
- Musée d’Orsay – 3,871,498 visitors
- National Gallery of Art, Washington – 3,829,812 visitors
