WASHINGTON, D.C., APRIL 13, 2011 (Zenit.org).- In view of the upcoming beatification of Pope John Paul II, the U.S. bishops launched a Web site to honor the Pontiff’s legacy.
The (Web site) created by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops includes a memorial video that features key moments of the Pope’s visits to that country.
It also includes biographical details, writings, and accomplishments of the Pontiff, as well as essays about his legacy in East-West relations, the mass media, the ethical use of technology, or the social mission of the Church.
Helen Osman, secretary of communications for the bishops’ conference, affirmed that «Pope John Paul II touched the lives of many people across the globe, in particular Americans during his seven visits to the United States.»
She explained, «The bishops’ conference created the Web site to assist people in realizing the magnitude of his work, and the video to illustrate his remarkable relationship with the American people.»
