The event at the Basilica of St. John Lateran is the second in a three-part series called «Dialogues in the Cathedral.»
Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller of Regensburg, Germany, will present the book, accompanied by Italian philosopher and politician Marcello Pera. The vicar of the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Agostino Vallini, will introduce the evening.
Bishop Müller, 63, has been the bishop of Regensburg since 2002.
Pera served as the president of the Italian Senate from 2001 to 2006. He is currently a professor at the Pontifical Lateran University. The senator collaborated with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in his 2004 book «Senza Radici. Europa, Relativismo, Cristianesimo, Islam» (Without Roots: The West, Relativism, Christianity, Islam).
He also authored «Perche Dobbiamo Dirci Cristiani» (Why We Must Say We Are Christians) (2008), which is prefaced by a letter written by Benedict XVI.
