«We will invite the Pope for the month of August and from my vantage point, the visit will take place in August,» President Aleksander Kwasniewski said in statements over Poland´s public radio station.
Father Adam Schulz, spokesman of the Polish bishops´ conference, confirmed Wednesday the official invitation that Cardinal Jozef Glemp, the primate of Poland, presented to John Paul II.
The Holy Father´s last (and seventh) visit to his country was in 1999. Kwasniewski will visit Italy and the Vatican from Feb. 26-28.
