According to a statement issued today by the Vatican Office of Liturgical Celebrations, the Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the Pope´s vicar for the Rome Diocese.
As in previous years, at the end of the Mass the Holy Father will follow the kilometer-long eucharistic procession, which will take place on the Via Merulana, from St. John Lateran to the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
The Pontiff will complete the procession in a «popemobile,» kneeling on a prie-dieu before the Eucharist exposed in a monstrance.
