Bishops Orlando Quevedo and Leonardo Legaspi, president and vice president of the Philippine bishops´ conference, disclosed that the Church is preparing to send missionaries to various countries in Asia, in response to numerous requests from bishops.
Tthe news service Vid (http://www.vidimusdominum.org) says there are 2,000 Filipinos, both religious and lay, working as missionaries in Europe and North America.
In particular, the Philippine bishops are studying the possibility of responding to requests from Bishop Jerzy Mazur, apostolic administrator of Eastern Siberia, whose See is in Irkutsk.
Bishop Mazur has visited the Philippines several times in recent months, hoping to identify religious who speak Chinese, given the large number of Chinese immigrants present in his immense diocese.
