Pope Francis visited the Cathedral of Dhaka, which is part of the complex of the Archbishopric, on December 1, 2017. He blessed the memorial plaques of the papal visits to Dhaka (Paul VI, November 27, 1970, St. John Paul II, November 19, 1986, Francis, December 1, 2017) and the two new buildings for the elderly and for priests.
He greeted 20 members of the Organizing Committee for his visit to Bangladesh and spoke briefly to about 700 faithful and supporters. After gathering in silent prayer in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Father prayed at the tomb of the three previous Ordinaries of Dhaka.
