Pope Appoints new Miami Auxiliary Bishop

Pope Francis has appointed Fr Enrique Delgado as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Miami, Florida.  Fr Delgado currently is pastor of Saint Katherine Drexel parish in Weston, Florida, in the same archdiocese.
The new Auxiliary Bishop will be the first Peruvian bishop in the United States and the 14th Auxiliary Bishop to serve the South Florida Catholic community since the Diocese of Miami was created in 1958.
Father Enrique Delgado was born in Peru on December 26, 1955. He holds a bachelor degree in industrial engineer and got the call to serve the Lord after earning his master’s degree in economics.
Fr Delgado joined the seminary in 1991. In 1995, he finished a Master in Theology and in 1996 a Master of Divinity. He received the Sacrament of Holy Orders on June 29, 1996, in a Holy Mass in Peru officiated by Bishop Agustin Roman.
Fr. Delgado worked for seven years as Pastor of St. Justin Martyr in Key Largo, FL. He worked before in St. Agnes, Key Biscayne and Nativity, Hollywood.
In April 2010, Archbishop John Clement Favalora announced the appointment of Fr. Enrique Delgado as Pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Parish effective August 1st. 2010.
Father Delgado finished his Doctoral studies in Practical Theology on December 19, 2015.
