Pope Francis on June 16, 2019, cited the model of Edvige Carboni, who was proclaimed blessed June 15 at Pozzomaggiore, in Sardinia.
The Holy Father’s comments came before praying the Angelus with those gathered for Mass in Camerino-San Severino Marche, where the Pope was visiting the area devastated by earthquakes three years ago.
The Pope called the new blessed “a simple woman of the people, who in humble everyday life embraced the Cross, giving witness of faith and of charity.
“We give thanks for this faithful disciple of Christ, who spent her whole life at the service of God and of her neighbor. An applause by all for the new Blessed!”
