On Tuesday, May 1 at 5:00 pm, Pope Francis will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Divine Love, in via del Santuario 10 (Castel di Leva zone). The Archbishop Vicar Angelo De Donatis; the Auxiliary Bishop for the South sector, Monsignor Paolo Lojudice; the President of the Oblates Sons of Divine Love, Monsignor Enrico Feroi; the Rector of the Shrine, Father Luciano Chagas Costa; the parish priest, Father John Harry Bermeo Sanchez; the Rector of the Seminary of Our Lady of Divine Love, Father Vincent Pallippadan; the Religious Congregations of the Oblates Sons and Daughters of Our Lady of Divine Love, will receive him. On his arrival the Mater Divini Amoris polyphonic choir, directed by Father Domenico Parrotta, will intone the hymn “Tu es Petrus.”
The Pontiff will pray the Rosary in the old Shrine, before the image of Our Lady of the Miracle, thus opening the Marian month. Pope Francis will pray especially for peace in the world and in Syria.
After the prayer, the Holy Father will meet with the Oblates Sons of Our Lady of Divine Love and the Daughters of Our Lady of Divine Love, who work in the Shrine. Then he will bless the tomb of the Servant of God Father Umberto Terenzi, first Rector and parish priest of the Divine Love Shrine and Founder of the two Religious Congregations. Afterwards he will meet with some elderly parishioners who in fact were baptized by Father Terenzi. Included also in the program is a meeting with the guests of the Shrine’s two shelters: the Rest Home of Divine Love and the Mater Divini Amoris Family Home. The former, located not far from the old complex, receives self-sufficient or partially self-sufficient elderly people, of mild degree, of both sexes, older than 64 years, with a maximum of 24 guests. The latter, located in the building property of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Love, to whom it is entrusted, offers shelter to a maximum of six children and a further two minors to respond to the needs of first reception.
In addition, the Holy Father will greet the whole parish community that concerns the Shrine, and will pause in prayer in the Square in front of the old place of worship. “Moreover, from 5:00 pm on we will pray the Rosary, in our church of the Holy Family, uniting ourselves in prayer with the Pope, especially for elderly and sick persons,” said the parish priest, Father John Harry Bermeo Sanchez.
