Pope Francis on May 3, 2018, reminded the Catholics that transmitting the faith is not proselytism but is more like a birth process.
His remarks came in his morning homily at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican, reported by Vatican News.
The Holy Father warned that sharing the faith isn’t just providing information and that is isn’t easy: “Here, take this book, study it and then I will baptize you”.
He continued by stressing that transmitting the faith is “rooting the heart in faith in Jesus Christ…to be a fruitful mother, giving birth to children in the faith.” He reminded grandparents and parents that they have a special ability to transmit the faith because the “perfume it with love”. And he suggested that caregivers can transmit to those they care for.
