(ZENIT News / Washington, DC, 04.09.2023).- Planned Parenthood provides reproductive and sexual healthcare, and sexual education in the United States and globally. Abortions contribute to one of  its highest incomes. A Report on it is activities shows that between 2021 and 2022 its purpose and real objective was to obtain economic profits  by fomenting abortions.

This North American organization is the largest provider of abortions of the United States. Its 2021-2022 Report indicates that it carried out 374,155 abortions in 2021, equivalent to 1,200 a day.

During Donald Trump’s Government, the Executive and Congress attempted to withdraw Federal public funds from the Medicaid insurance program for family planning that would include abortions, a measure that would harm Planned Parenthood. In February of 2019, the U.S. Government initiated the Protect Life Rule, with more requirements to choose the Title X beneficiaries, the 1970 Federal program that grants funds to clinics throughout country that intervene in family planning.

The Protect Life Rule established the physical and financial separation between the Title X beneficiaries and installations where abortions are carried out. Moreover, Title X beneficiaries were impeded from referring their patients to abortion  services.

Instead of complying with the Protect Life Rule, Planned Parenthood withdrew from the program in August of 2019, with the loss of US$60 million annually from Federal funds.

The organization’s last Report revealed that it carried out 1,803 derivations to adoption, of those that wished to abort, showing that the proportion between abortions and derivations for adoption was 207 to 1. Moreover, Planned Parenthood carried out 60 abortions for every pregnancy that it helped bring to term through prenatal services. The statistics indicate that Planned Parenthood gives priority to abortion.

The Report reflects a decrease in the number of clients that ask Planned Parenthood for services: it went from attending close to 3 million women to attending some 2 million. Despite this decrease, the number of abortions carried out has increased.

The Report’s numbers manifest the intention to increase abortions as a means to achieve financial income.
