The church’s Construction Board is gradually removing the scaffolding. Thus, as of Tuesday, the 17-meter cross, which crowns the highest part of the Expiatory Church, can be seen without any visual obstruction.

The Jesus Christ tower of the Holy Family was completed with the placement of the upper arm of the cross on February 20, making the Basilica the tallest church in the world.Of what is the cross made of atop the tower of Jesus Christ? 

It is a four-armed cross, 17 meters high and 13.5 meters wide, clad in glass and white enamelled ceramic. Its construction process was highly complex, involving the use of various materials and techniques, with enamelled ceramic and glass designed and produced specifically for the cross. The ceramic includes curved and pyramidal pieces, and the windows consist of three layers of curved and laminated glass, with mechanized and polished textures and pyramids.
