The Vatican councils charged with relations with non-Catholic Christians and members of other religions today offered a welcome to anyone who wants to associate himself with the Pope’s Day of Prayer for Peace this Saturday.
A brief communiqué today from the Pontifical Councils for Promoting Christian Unity and Interreligious Dialogue noted that «peace is a good to which everyone aspires.»
In announcing the Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in Syria and in the world, Francis «also invited members of other Churches and Ecclesial Communities, members of other religions and all men and women of good will to associate themselves to the initiative in the ways they deem most opportune,» the communiqué noted.
Francis will host a vigil at 7 pm on Saturday in St. Peter’s Square.
«Peace is a good to which everyone aspires, and all religious persons and persons of good will can be in solidarity, in the hope that this essential good will triumph over every form of hatred and violence,» the communiqué from the Vatican councils stated.
It added, «The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews will be grateful to all those who wish to accept His Holiness’ invitation, living moments of prayer, fasting and reflection.»
