Pope Reminisces With Romanian Prime Minister

VATICAN CITY, APR. 6, 2001 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II received Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase in audience this morning and reminisced with him about the former´s May 1999 visit to Bucharest, a papal first in an Orthodox country.

An important figure of the Social Democratic Party, Nastase, 50, arrived at the Vatican in the context of a trip to Italy, during which he met with Italian politicians and businessmen. At these meetings, Nastase requested his country´s integration into the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
