The image of Mary, «Seat of Wisdom,» will begin its Peruvian tour at the University of Piura. Other stops include Chiclayo, Lima and Arequipa, before it leaves the country at year-end.
Inspired in the Eastern Christian tradition, the icon was painted by Slav Father Marko Rupnik. The Pope gave it as a gift to the world´s youth on Sept. 10, 2000, during the special jubilee of the university world.
