Holy Father Seeks Politics That Recognize The Role Of The Family

VATICAN CITY, May 15, 2002 (ZENIT.org).- John Paul II asked that governmental institutions support the values of the family with politics that recognize its role in society.

The words of the Holy Father took place at the end of his encounter with 13 thousand faithful in the general audience, celebrating this day, the World Day of the Family instituted by the United Nations in 1994

The Holy Father desired that «institutions recognize fully the values of the family with politics oriented to promote its high function.»

«What the conscience affirms each time more is that the future of humanity and the Church passes through the family,» he concluded.
