Archbishop Duarte was killed March 16 just after presiding over a wedding Aguablanca, a slum area near Cali. Carlos Augusto Ramírez Castro was arrested a few days later as a suspect in the crime.

Police believed Ramírez Castro, 28, was in danger, so they moved him Palmira prison, specifically to separate him from Alexander de Jesús Zapata, an alleged accomplice in the archbishop´s murder. Zapata is still being held in Cali´s Villanueva prison.

A probe into the latest killing is under way. There are 178 inmates in the Palmira prison, the majority common criminals.
