National Security Adviser Meets with U.S. Catholic Leaders

WASHINGTON, D.C., MARCH 4, 2003 (Zenit.org).- President George W. Bush’s national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, met with U.S. Catholic leaders, including four cardinals.

The cardinals were Theodore McCarrick of Washington, D.C., Edward Egan of New York, Anthony Bevilacqua of Philadelphia, and William Keeler of Baltimore.

No details were disclosed about the contents of the Monday meeting. Press sources said the initiative served to prepare the meeting that Cardinal Pio Laghi, John Paul II’s special envoy, will have with Bush over the Iraqi crisis. That meeting is planned for Wednesday.
