BARCELONA, Spain, OCT. 3, 2003 (Zenit.org).- La Sagrada Familia, the unfinished architectural masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí, is due to be completed ahead of schedule — 20 years from now, the British daily Telegraph reports.

The first stone of the church in Barcelona was laid in 1882 but the project was not expected to be finished until at least 2040. Now — thanks to large sums of money pouring in from tourists, and advances in building technology — church officials have brought forward the date for its completion to 2023, the paper said.

In 2002, more than 2 million people visited the church.
